Our Maserati expertise
History & brand DNA
Maserati was founded on 1 December 1914 in Bologna, when the Maserati brothers opened their workshop. The trident in its emblem is taken from the Fountain of Neptune on the Piazza Maggiore. The company moved to Modena in 1940 and today belongs to the Stellantis group. Its watches are manufactured and distributed under worldwide licence by the Italian group Morellato. They borrow their codes from the car world: subdials inspired by dashboard instruments, tachymeter bezels, and a trident on the dial. At Montres Outlet, Maserati is first and foremost a men's brand, and one of the most in-demand names in our men's range.
Iconic models
Six lines account for most of our sales. The Competizione, with a steel case and fluted bezel, often with a sunburst blue dial and three subdials (24 hours, day and date), is our most in-demand line. The Sfida brings together chronographs, three-hand watches and skeleton automatics under a graduated bezel, almost all in 44 mm. The Traguardo, the widest line in our catalogue, is mainly made up of 45 mm chronographs, often with tachymeter bezels. The Potenza is recognised by its case with ribbed flanks and its large trident on the dial, in quartz or skeleton automatic. The Epoca takes the classic approach in 42 mm, in steel, Milanese mesh or leather, and the Successo offers the 44 mm chronograph, up to the Aqua edition, black with turquoise pushers. On the women's side, the 34 mm Epoca pairs rose gold with a blue dial that has mother-of-pearl reflections.
What we check before dispatch
Three guidelines to help you choose. Size first: the 42 mm (Potenza, Epoca, some Competizione) is the diameter that sells fastest with us. The 43 and 44 mm (Competizione, Sfida, Successo) bridge the gap, and the Traguardo as well as the Stile step up to 45 mm. Colour next: a blue dial on steel is the most requested combination, ahead of all-black and steel with a black dial. Rose gold, gold-tone and two-tone serve as accents. Finally, use: most of our Maserati watches are water resistant to 100 metres (10 ATM), a rating often printed on the dial, and the value of each model is listed on its product page. Most are quartz, and automatics, almost all with a skeleton dial, are found mainly in the Potenza, Epoca and Sfida. To read a reference: after the letters R88, the first digit indicates the movement (2 for an automatic, 5 for a quartz without chronograph, three-hand or multifunction, 7 for a chronograph), the next digit indicates the strap (1 for leather or silicone, 3 for metal), and the three digits after that indicate the line (612 or 112 for the Traguardo, 108 for the Potenza, 640 or 140 for the Sfida, 600 or 100 for the Competizione, 618 or 118 for the Epoca). So an R8823140011 is a Sfida automatic on a steel bracelet. To recognise a genuine Maserati, check the crispness of the trident and signature on the dial, then the engravings on the caseback and clasp.
Why buy at outlet prices?
A Maserati bought from us is new, authentic, checked before dispatch and covered by a 2-year warranty, at outlet prices. It is the watch for those who love cars without needing to show it off: a trident on the dial, legible subdials, and steel that works as well in the office as at the weekend. If you're unsure, start with your wrist size, then choose the colour: blue, black or steel.
