Commitment · 2-year warranty
Warranty & after-sales service
Every piece offered on montres-outlet.com is selected, checked and covered by a 2-year warranty. This warranty covers exclusively the watch movement under normal use: this page sets out precisely, item by item, what is covered and what is not.
Your warranty, recorded with Authentifia
Montres Outlet is a partner seller of Authentifia, a platform specialising in warranty registration and documentary traceability verification. After your purchase, you can record your warranty in its register:
- A dated certificate sent by email, stating exactly what is covered and until when
- A time-stamped record, kept outside our systems and accessible at any time
- Free and optional: registration never conditions your warranty rights
Authentifia is an external documentary verification platform: it records and attests, but does not physically appraise products and does not itself grant the warranty. Our partnership with the register is declared on our public profile.
Authenticity guarantee
All watches and jewellery offered on montres-outlet.com are 100% authentic and original. As an independent retailer, we source from European wholesalers specialising in watchmaking. Every piece undergoes a rigorous check before dispatch.
A certificate of authenticity systematically accompanies watches for which the brands issue one. Pieces are shipped in their original case when available.
2-year commercial warranty: the movement, only
All our products come with a 2-year commercial warranty from the date of delivery.
The scope of this warranty is deliberately simple and precise: it covers exclusively the watch movement (the internal mechanism that makes it run), in the event of a manufacturing defect found under normal use. No other component of the watch is covered by the commercial warranty.
The commercial warranty covers:
- Manufacturing defects of the movement
In practice, this corresponds for example to a watch that repeatedly stops even though the battery is new and correctly fitted, a movement that gains or loses time abnormally (several minutes a day), or an internal complication (date, chronograph) that no longer engages mechanically, in each case with no impact, drop or contact with water.
| Situation | Warranty |
|---|---|
| Manufacturing defect of the movement under normal use (watch properly cared for, battery in good condition, no impact, no immersion) | ✓ Covered |
| Any other part of the watch: battery, strap, case, dial, glass, hands, rhinestones, crown, clasp, water resistance, cosmetic condition | ✗ Not covered |
By placing an order on montres-outlet.com, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this warranty scope. Any claim relating to an item listed as not covered will be refused, whatever the age of the order.
What the warranty does not cover: detail item by item
To avoid any ambiguity when a claim is made, here is the detailed list of parts and situations excluded from the commercial warranty. This list applies to all watches sold on the site, across all brands.
| Part / situation | Practical examples | Warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | Flat battery, watch stopped after the battery ran out, battery replacement | ✗ Not covered |
| Rhinestones, stones and crystals | Loss, detachment or tarnishing of a rhinestone, decorative stone or set index marker | ✗ Not covered |
| Hands | Hand detached, fallen, misaligned or discoloured, whatever the cause | ✗ Not covered |
| Strap / bracelet | Breakage, lost link, worn or cracked leather, discolouration, scratches, damaged clasp or buckle | ✗ Not covered |
| Dial | Breakage, crack, stain, discolouration, detached index marker | ✗ Not covered |
| Glass | Glass scratched, cracked, chipped or broken | ✗ Not covered |
| Case | Scratches, impacts, dents, wear of the plating or coating (gold-tone, PVD, IP) | ✗ Not covered |
| Crown and pushers | Crown torn off, bent or stuck, pusher jammed or broken | ✗ Not covered |
| Water resistance | Water ingress, condensation under the glass, oxidation, damage caused by showering, swimming or perspiration | ✗ Not covered |
| Impacts and accidents | Drop, crushing, twisting, any externally caused damage, including its consequences for the movement | ✗ Not covered |
| Third-party intervention | Watch opened, repaired or modified by a person or watchmaker not appointed by us | ✗ Not covered |
| Normal and cosmetic wear | Everyday micro-scratches, patina, ageing of the gaskets, discolouration caused by sunlight or cosmetics | ✗ Not covered |
Why these exclusions? The strap, glass, case, hands, rhinestones and clasp are permanently exposed to friction, everyday knocks and cosmetic products: their condition depends directly on how the watch is worn, which we can neither control nor verify. The battery is a consumable, as on any electronic device. Water resistance, finally, depends on usage habits (crown properly screwed down, pushers never operated under water) and on the natural ageing of the gaskets: no watch brand guarantees it over time, and neither do we.
For these parts, our customer service can point you to the brand's repair network or a partner watchmaker (paid service, spare parts charged at the maker's rate).
Frequently asked warranty questions
My watch has stopped: is it covered?
In the vast majority of cases, a quartz watch that stops simply has a flat battery. The battery is a consumable: replacing it is at your expense and is not covered. If the watch does not restart after a new battery has been fitted by a professional (with proof), it may be a movement defect: in that case, the warranty applies.
A rhinestone or a stone has fallen off my watch: is it covered?
No. Rhinestones, stones and set decorative elements are exposed to everyday friction and knocks, and their loss is never covered by the warranty, whatever the age of the purchase.
A hand has come loose: is it covered?
No. A detached hand results from an impact or a vibration (even a slight one that went unnoticed) and is not covered by the warranty. A watchmaker can refit it quickly, at your expense.
There is condensation under the glass / my watch got wet: is it covered?
No. Water resistance is not covered by the warranty. Condensation or water ingress comes from use in a damp environment (shower, swimming, heavy rain), a crown not pushed back properly or the natural ageing of the gaskets. The resulting damage, including to the movement, is also excluded.
My strap or my glass is broken: is it covered?
No. The strap, glass, dial and case are excluded from the warranty. They are replaceable wear parts: our customer service can tell you where to order the original part or have it replaced (paid service).
Legal guarantee (Swiss and European law)
As a company established in Switzerland selling to consumers in Europe, we comply with the statutory guarantees applicable in the buyer's country of residence:
- European Union: legal guarantee of conformity of at least 2 years (EU Directive 2019/771), and guarantee against hidden defects.
- Switzerland: 2-year guarantee under the Swiss Code of Obligations (art. 197 et seq. CO).
If a lack of conformity is found within the first 12 months following delivery, it is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery. You may request repair, replacement or a refund.
The legal guarantee of conformity is assessed against the condition of the product at the time of delivery: it likewise does not cover damage occurring afterwards through use, impacts, water or wear (battery, strap, glass, rhinestones, hands). Any defect present on receipt must be reported to us without delay, with supporting photos, ideally within 48 hours of delivery.
Warranty extension
Some brands offer paid warranty extensions beyond the 2 years. If this service is available for your product, we let you know at the time of purchase. These extensions are managed directly by the brand.
How to make a warranty claim
The fastest way: our online after-sales form. It instantly assesses your request against the warranty scope: if a claim is possible, it is passed directly to an adviser; otherwise, you immediately receive the steps to follow and our workshop service rates.
For any warranty claim relating to the movement:
- Complete the after-sales form (or contact customer service) stating your order number and a precise description of the movement fault
- Attach clear photos of the watch and, if possible, a short video showing the fault
- We assess your request within 48 working hours against the warranty scope described on this page
- If the warranty applies, we send you prepaid return instructions
- After receipt, the watch is examined: if the movement defect is confirmed and no cause for exclusion is found (impact, oxidation, opening by a third party...), repair or replacement within 10 working days
If repair or replacement is not possible, a full refund is offered.
If the examination shows that the problem falls under an exclusion (signs of impact, water ingress, worn battery, third-party intervention), the claim is refused and the watch is returned to you as is. A quote for a paid repair may be offered.
