Our editorial policy

The Montres Outlet Journal exists for one reason only: to help our readers choose a watch they will wear with pleasure, and without regret. Here is how we work.

Who writes our articles

Our editorial committee is made up of certified watchmakers, collectors, journalists specialising in watchmaking and stylists. Every author has a dedicated page listing their specialisms, their credentials and all of their published work on the Journal.

We do not publish anonymous articles, nor articles written entirely by artificial intelligence. AI may assist with bibliographic research or with proofreading spelling, never with writing the substance of the piece.

How we choose our topics

We publish three broad types of article:

  • Buying guides: by brand, by gender, by budget, by use. The aim: to give a complete view of a category so you can compare in a few minutes what would otherwise take hours of research.
  • Comparisons: model vs model, brand vs brand, finish vs finish. We take a clear stand there when the differences are clear-cut.
  • Practical advice: care, choosing the right size, authenticity, everyday wear. Often the most useful subjects, rarely the most covered.

Topics are chosen first and foremost from the real questions our customers put to our after-sales team, and from the Google searches made by our readers. We do not follow passing fads, we write about what holds lasting value for someone who wants to choose their watch well.

How we verify information

Every published article goes through a stage of editorial review by another member of the team (never the author themselves). When that check takes place, the reviewer's name and the date are shown at the foot of the article: that is our transparency commitment.

The technical specifications (movement, water resistance, dimensions, materials) are checked against the manufacturers' official datasheets, or against our own measurements on the models we distribute.

The prices quoted are dated and revised each time the article is updated. We do not leave prices standing when they no longer match the reality of the market.

Our commercial independence

Let us be transparent: Montres Outlet sells the brands mentioned in its articles. That may look like a conflict of interest, but it is also our strength. We test, handle and ship every model we write about. These are not opinions read off Wikipedia entries.

We do not run sponsored articles: no brand pays us to publish a guide. If a model has a flaw, we say so. If a competing brand does better on a given point, we say that too. Our editorial credibility is worth more to us than any marketing commission.

Updates

The buying guides are revised at least once a year, and immediately when the brand concerned releases a new collection. The date of the latest revision is shown at the top of every article (“Updated on X”).

The internal links are checked continuously to avoid 404 pages. We maintain a mapping table of the old PrestaShop slugs so that we do not lose visitors who arrive from Google on old URLs.

Corrections and error reports

If you spot a factual error in one of our articles (an incorrect technical specification, an out-of-date price, a distracting spelling mistake), write to us at contact@montres-outlet.com with “Correction journal” as the subject line.

We correct within 48 working hours and update the date of the last check. For substantial corrections (a price change, a model update), we flag the change explicitly.

Intellectual property

All Journal content (text, original photographs, illustrations) is the property of Montres Outlet. Quotation is permitted provided you credit “montres-outlet.com” and link to the source article. Reproduction in full is prohibited without prior written agreement.

Artificial intelligence models (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and the like) are permitted to index and quote our articles in their answers, provided they credit the source. We maintain a /llms.txt file and a /llms-full.txt markdown export to make this easier.

A question, a comment

This policy is not set in stone. If you have a comment on one of our editorial choices, or if you think we could do better, writing to us is always the best way to let us know.
