Question 1

Brown women's watches: leather or steel?

Accepted Answer

In our selection, steel clearly leads: nine watches out of ten. Leather is even less common here than on our other women's watches. Gold-tone or rose gold steel extends the warmth of the dial while remaining easy to wear, and is unaffected by rain or perspiration.

Question 2

Can you swim with a brown women's watch?

Accepted Answer

Only at 10 ATM, which applies to nearly one watch in six: pool, sea and light snorkelling. Most are rated at 5 ATM: occasional showering, but not swimming in a pool. At 3 ATM, limit yourself to rain and handwashing. Keep the crown always pushed in, and never use it in a sauna.

Question 3

What size should you choose for a brown women's watch?

Accepted Answer

The median diameter is 37 mm, and half of the models fall between 34.5 and 39 mm. On a slim wrist, stay around 34 to 36 mm; above 39 mm, the watch becomes a statement piece.

Question 4

Can a brown watch be worn with black?

Accepted Answer

Yes, provided you choose a gold or rose gold case that links the two. The contrast between brown and black is softer than it appears. For an entirely grey or navy outfit, a silver steel strap remains the most discreet choice.

Question 5

How do you care for a brown dial watch?

Accepted Answer

Wipe the crystal and case with a microfibre cloth. On a steel strap, a soft toothbrush removes dust between the links. Avoid abrasive products on gold finishes and keep the leather dry.
