Men's Red Watch
A men's red watch does not go unnoticed, and that is precisely its appeal.
The men's red watch, a dial that stands out
A men's red watch does not go unnoticed, and that is precisely its appeal. Here, the red comes from the dial: the men's red dial watch relies on a single vivid touch of colour, while the rest can remain understated, in steel or black. Our men's red watches come from Hugo Boss, Diesel, Seiko, Citizen, Lacoste, D1 Milano and Swatch, all brand new and covered by a 2-year warranty. The selection is deliberately short, as red is a rare colour among watchmakers: more than three quarters of our men's dials are black, blue, grey or silver.
What the red dial reveals, measured across our range
Compared with our men's watches as a whole, the men's red watch stands out on three points. The silicone strap is about two and a half times more common: nearly one watch in three, compared with one in eight. The automatic movement doubles its share, at around one watch in seven compared with one in fourteen. And sapphire crystal, rare elsewhere, is also found on roughly one red watch in seven.
On the other hand, pay attention to water resistance: nearly one red watch in three is only 3 ATM water-resistant, twice as often as the average of our men's watches. The share rated at 10 ATM is the same, just under one in four, as is that of the chronograph. The median diameter drops to 42 mm, compared with 44 mm overall: a red watch sits a little closer to the wrist.
Silicone, steel or leather: the strap tone
Steel remains the first choice, on nearly one watch in two: it frames the red and makes it look more refined. However, almost a third of the models carry the colour through to the strap, tone on tone. This is the sportiest version, and often the silicone one: lightweight, can be washed with soapy water, and resistant to perspiration. To explore this style further, our men's sport watch page brings together models built for exertion.
Leather is less common here than elsewhere, on roughly one watch in seven. As for the clasp, the pin buckle, the type found on a belt, is fitted to nearly one watch in two, compared with one in three for our men's watches in general: this is the direct result of the share of silicone and leather.
Red, blue or black: choosing your dial colour
Red works with simple outfits: jeans, grey, navy, white. It adds interest to a plain shirt and is more discreet than you might think under a sleeve. In our selection, it comes in several characters: the graphic red of the Swatch & Art line, the sporty red of the Hugo Boss One or Diesel Boltdown, the minimalist red of the D1 Milano Ultra Thin, or that of the Hugo Boss Bossmatic.
If you are looking for a more subdued colour, blue is, after black, the most common dial colour in our men's range: see our men's blue watch selection. And for a matching gift, discover our women's red watch.
