The men's rose gold watch, a warm touch without ostentation
On this page, a men's rose gold watch is defined by its metal: a case or a bracelet in rose gold colour, whatever the dial colour. In practice, it is almost always the case that carries the tint, on more than nine watches out of ten. Let us be clear from the outset: rose gold here describes a colour, not solid gold. Warmer than steel, more discreet than yellow, it warms the wrist without weighing it down. The selection brings together Maserati, Emporio Armani, Lotus, Daniel Wellington, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Guess, Fossil, Burberry and Michael Kors, all brand new and covered by a 2-year warranty.
What sets a men's rose gold watch apart, measured across our catalogue
We compared these watches with our full range of men's watches. The clearest difference concerns the strap. Leather is fitted to six rose gold watches out of ten, more than twice as often as on our other men's watches, where steel dominates. Brown leather in particular is nearly three times more common here: the brown and rose gold pairing is the classic choice for this colour. Logically, the pin buckle closes two watches out of three, compared with one in three elsewhere.
The dial also changes. Black, the most common on our men's watches, drops noticeably in favour of the white dial, which appears almost one time in five, far more often than elsewhere. What does not change matters just as much: the chronograph, the 10 ATM water resistance and the automatic movement are just as common as elsewhere. The size remains that of a men's watch, with a median diameter of 43 mm and a thickness of 11 mm.
Leather or steel: two ways to wear rose gold
On leather, the rose gold watch takes on a classic, dressy look: brown highlights the warmth of the metal, black makes it look sharper, and blue feels more modern. This is the version to wear with a suit, a wool jacket or an Oxford shirt. Our page montre bracelet cuir homme extends this choice to all case colours. On a rose gold metal bracelet, found on roughly one watch in four, the effect is bolder: the tint covers the whole wrist. It can then be worn on its own, without other jewellery.
The silicone option, on just over one watch in ten, gives a sporty version, best reserved for active weekends. And a small part of the selection follows the skeleton style, which lets you see the movement through the dial: the rose gold frames the mechanism.
Rose gold, yellow gold or steel: choosing your tone
Rose gold suits olive skin tones as well as fair complexions, and pairs well with brown, beige and navy. If you wear a yellow gold wedding band, a montre or homme will keep things consistent; if you wear little jewellery, rose gold is the easier of the two tones. As for water, most are 5 ATM water-resistant, suitable for occasional showers but not for swimming pools, and one in five reaches 10 ATM, the level that allows swimming. Always take off a leather-strap watch before bathing: water marks the strap.
