History & brand DNA

Guess was founded in 1981 in Los Angeles by the Marciano brothers. The brand became a symbol of relaxed Californian style through denim, then expanded into accessories and watchmaking. The Guess watch line is produced under licence by Sequel AG (a Timex subsidiary until 2018, then Movado since), with a clear product strategy: high volumes, accessible prices, and ostentatious design for women and oversized chronographs for men. Commercial success has been substantial in the United States and Southern Europe.

Iconic models

The Guess range divides into two very different universes: for women, models with mother-of-pearl dials or pavéd with Swarovski crystals, gold or rose-gold finishes, gold-plated steel or coloured silicone straps (Moonlight, Trend); for men, oversized chronographs 46-48 mm with multifunctional dials, steel or silicone bracelet, water resistance 50-100 m (Sporty, Connoisseur). A few skeleton dress models for men complete the offer. Women's size 36-40 mm, men's size 44-48 mm.

What we check before dispatch

On an authentic Guess watch: the 'GUESS' logo must be sharp on the dial with thick sans-serif typography. Swarovski crystals (on women's models) must all be present, a missing crystal indicates a worn or damaged watch. The case back bears the reference W or GW plus number with the mention 'Stainless Steel'. The crown is marked G. On chronographs, the three pushers (start, stop, reset) must operate with a firm click. Beware of counterfeits that copy the logo but with a less sharp dial finish and glass crystals instead of Swarovski.

+Is a Guess watch water-resistant for swimming?

It depends on the model. The men's Sporty chronographs are 50-100 m (3-10 ATM) and support occasional swimming. Women's dress models are 30 m (3 ATM), suitable for splashes only. Always check the water resistance engraved on the case back before any contact with water.

+What case size for a men's Guess watch?

Guess men's chronographs are 44 to 48 mm, deliberately oversized to embrace the Californian style. For a wrist under 17 cm, these sizes may seem imposing. In that case, prefer the dress models with open dial (skeleton), typically 42 mm.
