The black Casio men's watch: legibility and robustness
At Casio, black is the most common dial colour: more than a third of our men's watches from the brand feature it. This page brings them together. A black Casio men's watch reads at a glance and handles most things well: it is the tool watch par excellence. Here it comes in digital, the majority, as well as analogue and combined display, hands plus screen, across the Vintage, Sport, Collection and Waveceptor lines, in new models with a 2-year warranty.
What sets a black Casio men's watch apart, measured across our range
We compared black dials with our full range of Casio men's watches. The first difference is water: 10 ATM water resistance is almost twice as common there, on roughly three watches in ten, and models rated at 3 ATM or less fall from six in ten to fewer than half. The second difference is the strap: silicone is almost twice as present, on more than one watch in three, at the expense of steel.
The third difference is size: the median diameter reaches 42 mm, compared with 36 mm across all our Casio men's watches. The black dial therefore attracts sport models, which are larger and more water-resistant. The case is black on about a third of the models, and the strap is black on two in three.
Black screen or black dial: the question of legibility
On an analogue watch, a black dial makes the hands and light-coloured indexes stand out: it is the most legible contrast possible, by day as well as in low light. On a digital watch, 'black dial' can mean two things: a screen with negative display, light figures on a dark background, very graphic but a little less legible in full sun, or a light screen surrounded by a black frame. Our listings do not make this distinction: the photo of each product shows you which. To compare all the displays, see our selection of digital men's watches.
Vintage black or sport black
Nearly half of the selection is in the vintage style. The vintage black Casio men's watch revives the brand's retro lines, often in a square or rectangular case with a steel strap; the whole family is on our Casio vintage men's watch page. A black vintage Casio men's watch keeps this style while darkening the case, for a more discreet look.
The other half is sport: a larger round case, silicone strap, and 10 ATM on a good number of models. A black Casio men's watch from this family, or any Casio men's watch with a black dial rated at 10 ATM, suits swimming, with the crown pushed in and buttons left untouched underwater. The whole brand remains visible on our Casio men's watch page.
