What sets the vintage range apart, measured across our catalogue

We compared these watches with our full range of Casio men's watches. First difference, the display: it is entirely digital, whereas about one Casio men's watch in three is analogue or hybrid, and no vintage watch has a round dial, compared with almost one Casio men's watch in three. Second difference, water resistance: none reaches 10 ATM, a rating found on about one Casio men's watch in six, and nearly nine in ten do not exceed 3 ATM.

Third difference, the strap: the clip clasp is fitted to more than eight vintage watches in ten, compared with fewer than half of our Casio men's watches, and leather disappears entirely. The strap is also narrower, 18 mm at the midpoint compared with 20 mm. The diameter, however, does not change: 36 mm in both cases. On functions, more than two watches in three have a chronograph, and all display the date.

Water Resist: what the mention on the dial means

Many Casio Vintage watches carry the mention "Water Resist". It signals a minimum level of water resistance, not a swimming watch. In our selection, about four watches in five are 3 ATM: rain and handwashing. A minority do not exceed 1 ATM or are not water resistant, and a few rare models reach 5 ATM, which tolerates an occasional shower but not swimming. For swimming, you need 10 ATM. Silver, gold or black: choosing your Casio vintage men's watch

The silver steel version is the most versatile: it goes with everything and suits all metals. Gold is more common here than on our other Casio men's watches: about one vintage case in five, compared with a little over one in ten. It is the boldest Casio vintage men's watch, happily worn with a shirt or a jacket. The black version, more graphic, suits an urban style. In terms of dial colour, black dominates, followed by grey, gold and brown. The crystal is mineral on most of the models listed, and acrylic on the others.

The design is the same as the women's version, with more consistent sizes: half of the models measure between 35 and 37 mm.
