Armani Exchange (AX) was launched in 1991 as the most accessible diffusion line of the Giorgio Armani group, designed for young urban New Yorkers. The watch line is entrusted to the Fossil group under the same licence that covers Emporio Armani, but with an even more affordable positioning and bolder design: contrasting dials, brushed steel or PVD cases, finishes that are more fashion-forward than classic. AX targets the 25-40 age group who want an Italian look without the Emporio price tag.
Iconic models
The AX range reads across three main aesthetics: the Hampton line (round steel case 44-46 mm, references AX21xx) which dominates in volume for its simplicity-to-price ratio; the Nico line and gold finishes (AX23xx) for those wanting a more dressed-up urban look; and models with transparent or skeleton dial (AX24xx) that showcase the quartz movement, more fashion-oriented. Cases are consistently 42 to 46 mm across the board, AX does not exist in compact format.
What we check before dispatch
On an authentic AX: the 'A|X Armani Exchange' logo must be sharp on the dial, with the vertical bar between A and X perfectly aligned. The case back is engraved with 'Armani Exchange, Movement Made In China' (Fossil assembly) along with the AX reference and serial number. The crown is marked AX. The steel bracelet should show no lateral play between the links. Be wary of models sold outside the official network that display a slightly distorted logo or different typography.
