Our Seiko expertise
History & brand DNA
Seiko was founded in 1881 in Tokyo by Kintaro Hattori. In 1913, Seiko released the first mass-produced Japanese watch. In 1969, the 35 SQ Astron became the world's first commercial quartz watch, with Seiko filing the patent 6 months before the Swiss Watch Industry. Also in 1969, the Seiko 6105 equipped United States Navy divers in Vietnam. Seiko manufactures its own movements (calibres NH, 4R, 6R, 8L for automatics), a rarity in the accessible segment that guarantees complete control of the production chain.
Iconic models
Essential collections: Seiko 5 Sports (affordable automatic, references SNKL/SRPD), Prospex (diving and outdoor, the 'turtle' SPB/SRPD models are collector's items), Presage (automatics with Japanese dials, enamelled or urushi finishes), Astron (worldwide GPS solar), SUR Classic (elegant women's quartz), Coutura (sport chic). The Seiko SKX007 (discontinued) remains the most sought-after diving watch in the outlet market.
What we check before dispatch
Seiko's advantage: the NH35/NH36 calibres (automatics in Seiko 5 Sports) are entirely manufactured by Seiko, with no outsourcing. The Zaratsu decoration on Presage cases (mirror polishing on curved edges) is visible to the naked eye: a perfectly defined reflection with no distortion. On ISO 6425 certified Prospex models: the crown must be screw-down (you hear a click with each turn of the unscrew action). The LUME (Super-LumiNova) should be white-pink on new pieces and not yellowed.
Why buy at outlet prices?
Seiko outlet watches range from 100 to 600 EUR depending on the collection. It is arguably the brand offering the best value for technical sophistication outside Switzerland: Japanese automatics with in-house movements, certified diving watches, refined design. For a watch enthusiast with a reasonable budget, Seiko is often the first choice.
