Question 1

Fossil men's watch with leather or steel: which to choose?

Accepted Answer

Leather is lighter, warmer to the touch and more dressy; steel resists water and perspiration better. At Fossil, both share the range in almost equal proportions, with the same cases: the choice depends on how you will use it.

Question 2

Can I replace the leather strap of a Fossil men's watch myself?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Measure the width between the lugs, 22 mm on most models, then remove the spring bars with a suitable tool. A watchmaker can also do it in a few minutes if you prefer not to risk scratching the case.

Question 3

Can I go swimming with a Fossil with a leather strap?

Accepted Answer

No. Even if the case is water-resistant to 5 ATM or 10 ATM, leather does not tolerate water. Take the watch off to swim, and for showering if you want to keep your strap. Always keep the crown pushed in.

Question 4

Which colour of Fossil men's leather watch should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Brown is the most versatile and the most common, on more than one strap in two. Black is more formal. Blue, found on one watch in ten, goes well with jeans.

Question 5

How can I make a leather strap last?

Accepted Answer

Keep it dry, avoid contact with perfume and cream, and do not fasten it too tightly so that it can breathe. A leather conditioner applied from time to time keeps it supple. Replace it as soon as it cracks near the buckle.
