Hexagon Phantom PWPUA0524: silver steel with a skeleton black dial
The Philipp Plein The Hexagon Phantom PWPUA0524 is the most understated version of the Hexagon line. Where the brand often plays the gold and ornament card, this reference relies on a tonneau case in stainless steel left in silver, with an alternation of brushed and polished surfaces that catches the light on the edges without shining as one block. At the centre, a skeleton black dial lets you glimpse the depth of the watch, and the hexagonal logo of the collection serves as an immediate point of reference.
The result: a 44 mm men's watch that keeps the bold character of Philipp Plein while pairing easily with raw denim, a white shirt or a dark jacket. It is the logical choice if you like the brand's world but find rose gold too showy for everyday wear.
What you get on your wrist, point by point
- 44 mm tonneau case: a curved, elongated shape, very different from a round watch, which covers the wrist well and gives an immediately recognisable silhouette.
- 14 mm thickness: the watch has presence without becoming bulky, and it still fits under the cuff of a fitted shirt if you wear it one notch tighter.
- Brushed and polished steel: the brushing on the large surfaces hides the small scratches of daily life, while the polished chamfers add relief.
- Skeleton black dial: the openings in the dial create a play of depth, and the black sets off the hands and indices.
- Date window at 6 o'clock: a practical everyday function, placed at the bottom of the dial so it does not interfere with reading the time.
- Miyota 2115 quartz movement: a simple, reliable battery movement that requires no winding and no frequent adjustment.
- Black perforated silicone strap: soft, light, pierced with patterns that let the skin breathe, fastened with a pin buckle.
- 50 m (5 ATM) water resistance: rain, handwashing and splashes pose no problem.
- 2-year warranty: new and authentic watch, covered from the moment of delivery.
PWPUA0524 or PWPUA0124: brushed steel versus rose gold PVD
The Hexagon Phantom line also exists as the PWPUA0124, with a rose gold and black PVD steel case. Both watches share exactly the same base: 44 mm tonneau, 14 mm thickness, skeleton black dial, 6 o'clock date, Miyota 2115 movement and silicone strap. The choice therefore comes down to the case colour alone.
- You prefer discretion: the PWPUA0524 in silver steel goes with every clothing colour and pairs well with a silver bracelet or signet ring.
- You want warmth: the PWPUA0124 in rose gold and black draws the eye more and coordinates with gold jewellery.
- You wear the watch every day: bare steel does not suffer from coating wear, which makes it the more low-maintenance version over time.
Everyday wear: 6 o'clock date, perforated silicone and 50 metres
Compared with a The $kull from the same brand, which also measures 44 mm but reaches about 15 mm in thickness and has no date, the Hexagon Phantom is about 1 mm slimmer and more practical thanks to its date window. It is the Philipp Plein to choose if you want an everyday watch rather than an evening piece.
- Cleaning the strap: the silicone perforations trap dust and sun cream. Once a week, rinse it in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap and run a soft toothbrush through the openings.
- Setting the date: avoid changing it between roughly 9 pm and 3 am, when the date mechanism is switching over.
- Water: the watch tolerates splashes and rain, but remove it before a hot shower, a sauna or diving.
