History & brand DNA

Diesel was founded in 1978 in Molvena, in the Veneto, around Renzo Rosso. The brand now has its headquarters in Breganze and belongs to the OTB group, short for Only The Brave, the motto engraved on the small plate on the dial of our Mega Chief and Mr Daddy. Diesel does not make its watches itself. Since 1999 and the Diesel Time Frames collection, they have been manufactured and distributed under licence by the American company Fossil Group. According to Fossil's latest annual report, this watch licence runs until 31 December 2027. The style comes from denim and the workshop: oversized cases, exposed screws, steel plates and quartz movements.

Iconic models

Two ranges account for most of our Diesel sales, almost equally. The Mr Daddy 2.0 (57 mm) shows four time zones and a chronograph on the same dial, beneath a ring of eight exposed screws: it is the largest watch in our Diesel selection. The Mega Chief (51 mm) is a chronograph with a tenth-of-a-second subdial, recognisable by the DIESEL plate that protects its crown. Behind them, the Griffed (48 mm), with its case held by claws, and the Uber Chief (55 mm), crossed by a solid steel bridge, appeal to those looking for a rarer design. More compact lines, such as the Stinger or the D-Sruptor, sell noticeably more slowly with us.

What we check before dispatch

Size: on a Diesel, check the length as well as the diameter. A Mega Chief is 51 mm wide and about 59 mm long including the lugs, while a Mr Daddy 2.0 is 57 mm by 66 mm. On a slim wrist, the Griffed or the Spiked is the better choice. Colour: all-black is our best-selling finish. Gold, which is less common in stock, also sells quickly for each model and is the Diesel colour most in demand in France. Polished silver sells more slowly. Use: all our Diesel watches are quartz. The water resistance listed on our product pages depends on the range: 10 ATM (100 m) on most Mega Chiefs, and 3 ATM (30 m) on the Mr Daddy, which should not be worn for swimming. Authenticity: the Diesel reference starts with DZ followed by four digits. On the Mr Daddy, it is repeated on the small plate on the dial at 6 o'clock, and the motto Only The Brave appears on the plate at 12 o'clock.

It depends on the range. Our product pages list 10 ATM (100 m) for most Mega Chiefs, which is suitable for swimming, but 3 ATM (30 m) for the Mr Daddy, which only withstands rain and splashes. Check the water resistance on each model's page.
